The
main focus of Springhouse Gardens has always been plants - hardy
trees, shrubs, evergreens, vines, groundcovers and perennials that
will flourish in Kentucky. Here you will find not only the most
popular plants of the Bluegrass such as boxwoods, hydrangeas, hostas,
daylilies and sweetbay magnolias, but also more unusual and hard-to-find
plants like witchhazels, Japanese maples, winterberries, lenten
roses and beautyberries.
| We love searching out the best of the new varieties of plant material and we try to get them in larger sizes
than are available from mail order sources, thus making more of an impact in your garden.
HARDY TREES, SHRUBS, EVERGREENS, & VINES
Springhouse Gardens is a year-round nursery, with a huge array of hardy plants available in Balled and Burlapped (B&B) or in containers. Our garden center is
set up with our larger sized trees, shrubs and evergreens around the perimeter of the garden with our container trees, shrubs, groundcovers and vines conveniently located in the center of the sales area.

Along with the wide assortment and array of hardy plants, we also carry a good selection of unusual annual flowers and vines. We love to
combine plants in unique ways so be sure to look for our combination planters. We'd be glad to help you with yours too.
SPECIALTY & TOPIARY PLANTS
These are a few of the unique plants that you'll find on your visit to Springhouse: slow-growing dwarf conifers, trough and alpine plants, topiary and sculptured plants, espaliered fruit trees and weeping or contorted trees. We love all the unusual forms that
can be found today, and we have some truly one-of-a kind specimens, perfect for that accent piece for your garden.
NATIVE PLANTS
We are proud of our local heritage and respect the plants that have adapted to Kentucky's tough and ever-challenging climate. We stock many garden-worthy Kentucky natives, including: trees such as Spicebush (Lindera), Yellowood (Cladrastis), Black Gum (Nyssa), Pawpaw (Asimina), Persimmon (Diospyros) and Blue Ash (Fraxinus); Shrubs such as Sweet Pepperbush (Clethra), Sweetspire (Itea), Fothergilla, Viburnums and Sweetshrub (Calycanthus); and many native perennials like Joe Pye Weed (Eupatorium), Bluestar (Amsonia), Butterfly Weed (Asclepias), Purple Coneflower (Echinacea) and Cardinal Flower (Lobelia), just to name a few.
AQUATIC PLANTS
Water gardening has become very popular and we carry a good selection of not only water iris, lotus and lilies, but many marginal, submerged and floating plants. Come and explore our pond display and choose your plants from our galvanized water troughs.

SOILS, MULCHES & STONE
We also stock soil amendments and mulches in both bag and bulk, as well as bales of pine straw. Behind our barn we have many different types of landscape stone and boulders that can compliment any garden.
WROUGHT IRON & GARDEN ORNAMENTS
If you are looking for interesting metal pieces - arbors, trellises, gates or obelisks - many can be found incorporated into our displays in the garden center. Hand-blown glass gazing balls are also a specialty.
