When we began in 1995, we knew we wanted to have a “Tag Line”, one of those descriptive phrases that sums up the essence of our business. We wanted something that identified us as a place for interesting, not your average run-of-the-mill plants. We also wanted to convey that we were going to sell them in a comfortable and relaxed setting – not a big box store surrounded by blacktop! What we came up with was “Springhouse Gardens - Featuring Distinctive Plants in a Unique Rural Setting.” Looking back, it was a bit pedestrian and not too creative, but we used it on all our business cards, advertisements and newsletters for the first seven years. At least people knew we could use big words!

In the Spring of 2002, we were talking to a sales rep from a local design magazine and we were brainstorming different phrases we could use for our ads. This astute marketing guy said, “You know coming here is more like taking a walk in the park.” Voila! A new tag line was created. “Come Experience Springhouse Gardens…Where Buying Plants is a Walk in the Park.”

This tag line has served us well through the past six years, and we still use it in a lot of our ads. We hear many new customers who don’t know it’s our tag line, reinforce it in their comments, so at least we know it’s still true.

In 2007, we were brainstorming, trying to come up with a new ad for our WLEX TV Spring campaign and I suggested, “Come Experience Springhouse Gardens…Where Beauty is Always in Season.” It had a nice ring to it, so we decided to utilize it for that campaign.  Julie, our office manager really likes this one and often uses it on the marketing projects she does – ads, flyers, newsletters, etc. We haven’t officially adopted it, so I’m torn between the two. We may have to take a vote on it with our Springhouse customers to decide!
