2010 Landscape Design Award, For the second year in a row, Richard J. Weber, Landscape Architect and Owner of Springhouse Gardens was honored with a 2010 Landscape Design Award by the Perennial Plant Association.

The winning project for 2010 was once again a residential design project for one of Richard’s clients in Lexington. This time, the site was comparable to many suburban residential sites and faced the many of the same constraints. The client requested more privacy, year round color, and an overall fun and casual feel to the garden. Richard delivered. What set this design apart were the varied plant selections, the creative solution to site conditions and a focus on plant combinations which provide stellar year round interest. This design exhibited a number of creative solutions to many of the common issues which suburban homeowners face when trying to design their landscapes. The success of the project can be attributed to effective communication between the client and designer, a thorough knowledge of plant materials and site characteristics and Richard’s experience as a landscape architect here in the Bluegrass.
